India’s first MW solar project comes online

The Press Trust of India reports that the West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation has commissioned its 2MW PV project in Asansol. DPSC, a local utility, will purchase the power at INR 5/kWh in addition to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s generation incentive of INR 10/kWh. This is India’s first grid-connected solar project. The country currently has nearly 2.1MW of solar power, almost all of which is distributed off-grid projects.
